A map, not a manifesto.

Autark exists because "become digitally independent" is good advice with no map attached.

The directories of European alternatives are excellent lists. What they do not show is your situation: which of your needs depend on which, what it would take to run things yourself, what that costs, and which kinds of data would still leave Europe afterwards. This planner is that missing step — a web you assemble from plain-language needs, coloured by one published rule, with an honest estimate underneath.

Principles

• One rule, published. The colour of every node follows the same rule you can read on the agents page. Nothing is hand-tinted.
• Unknown stays unknown. If we could not verify where a company or its servers are, the node is grey — never rounded up to green.
• We practise it. This site loads nothing from third parties, sets no cookies and runs on a small European server.
• Built on what exists. Open-source facts come from awesome-selfhosted-data; we link out to european-alternatives.eu and switching.software rather than copying them. See sources.

What it is not

Not legal advice, not a compliance certificate, and not a promise that self-hosting is easy. Running your own tools is work; the planner tells you how much, roughly.

The catalogue started from the tools the author runs and works with every day and grows with contributions.
